I like how they feel that everyone has a duty to sing their own song. I couldn't agree more. So often I hear singers want to sing other people's music, which is fine, but those singers who actually delve into their own souls and retrieve something from their personal life are the ones who inspire me. You commented today about a girl who sang her song to a panel of judges who were not so accepting of her music. What a terrible situation. I'd rather sing night after night to a pub of Irish countryfolk who will listen with an open ear and an open heart. Everyone has a right to sing their own song to the world, to express themselves and be creative. Not everyone will become the next Pavorotti or Elvis or whoever, but that's not the point. The point is to find your own song. To share your own experience. To let others know what emotions you went through. To tell your story. And I believe everyone should have a chance to tell their story.
